But now, your brain is competing against your heart. Your brain is warning you that people do not change. Even when they say they will, they don't. You can't find that guy of your dreams. You just have to make do with whoever comes into your life. If a guy never thought of you as important in his life, there is a huge chance that he never will. Something else will always be more important than you, and it is your job to take it and understand your placing in his life.
It shouldn't be this way. Not when there is no relationship to begin with. If you are getting so confused and conflicted even before anything started, what makes you think that it will end up well? It is simple, if you like someone, you show it. Your brain will be thinking about him, evaluating whether he is right for you and your heart, well, your heart will always flutter when you see his name on your phone, cause you to smile when you see his face, keep you up at night. It shouldn't be a battle between the brain and the heart. You shouldn't feel reluctant to answer his calls (call in this case), letting it go to voicemail, refusing to reply him, trying to be distant in order to protect yourself even though you want nothing more than to savor those little things, that after he calls, you want to immediately pick up just to listen to his voice, meet up with him just to see his face but you can't. If you like a person, you shouldn't feel like you need to protect yourself from getting hurt all the time. You shouldn't have to convince yourself all the time that he is worth the pain. You shouldn't accept that he shows more affection towards others and be alright with standing in the background. It should be a cooperation between them, you and your partner into working for a steady future together. Love is wanting to spend your whole life with them, through ups and downs and still know that you have been blessed. It shouldn't be all down and held on by that one happy memory. Not when nothing even started.
